Hello,
I would like to inform you all of a situation that occurred today at the swimming pool with a camper at the city operated Camp MiniHaHa.
A 5 year old boy was observed in the spring fed pool in trouble, by one of our fantastic adult volunteers. Lisa Shephard had noticed the little boy face down, but at first glance, thought he was using goggles to look underwater. After another glance at him, she quickly realized that he was not moving. She swam into the water and pulled him out of the pool. A Program Aide that also noticed the situation, assisted Lisa in pulling him out. (Natalie Jade Kirby)
A lifeguard took him at that point and started CPR.
When pulled from the water he was not conscouis. BUT he was administered CPR on site and transferred to the hospital. Last update, shortly after being transported, was that he was conscious and talking.
I would like to applaud the fast action of Lisa and the help of our young Girl Scout, Natalie Jade.
They saved this boy's life and should be very proud of themselves. Our leaders and PA's are not only aware of our girls safety, but other swimmers. They should be commended for their dedication.
Thank you to Lisa, Jade and all my dedicated volunteers that work so hard to care for our girls and others.
