POOR J. BROWN RELEASES FULL-LENGTH ALBUM “Hill Country Soul”
New Braunfels, TX, May 8, 2010: New Braunfels' own Poor J. Brown is pleased to announce the release of their highly anticipated album “Hill Country Soul.” The record has been a year in the making and is the first full length record for the band, as well as their first time working with producer, Mack Damon. The band’s self-titled EP not only sold well, but garnered a nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year by the Texas Music Association. Singer, David Fenley, feels like the band is starting to get the recognition they deserve. “I’m excited to receive the nomination, not only for myself, but to draw attention to Poor J. Brown and the incredible music we’re putting out there.”
Poor J. Brown is a very unique blend of musical styles, and their record is a reflection of that. Songwriter, Leon Waddy described their style by saying, “We all come to the table with different influences and tastes. When we formed this band we didn’t try to categorize ourselves, we just made the music we liked and held on for the ride.” Their record is a reflection of that journey. It’s soulful and heart wrenching at times with songs like “Cheyenne” and “The Only One” and sometimes its raucous and rowdy with titles like “Hill Billy Badass” and “Hick Town Throwdown.” The only constants are solid musicianship, incredible songwriting, and dynamite vocals.
Look for “Hill Country Soul” at stores across Texas or on the web at mytexasmusic.com. You won’t be disappointed. No matter what style of music you like, there’s going to be a song that really appeals to you. They say you can’t be all things to all people, but “Hill Country Soul” just might prove them wrong.
Poor J. Brown makes Texas music. Based out of New Braunfels, Texas, the band features David Fenley on lead vocals, Leon Waddy on keys, Clete Ritta on lead guitar, pedal steel, and mandolin, Matt Morgan on accordion, Tim Germadnik on bass, and Kevin Cooley on drums. Their music combines soul, country, and an occasional splash of rock and even funk to create a sound that is memorable, fun, and down right addictive.
